Edwards Air Force Base
Twice a year, Edwards Air Force Base holds an electronic, universal, and household hazardous waste roundup. The roundups coincide with Earth Day in April and National Pollution Prevention Week in September. Throughout the year, the facility also collects computers for recycling or refurbishment.
EPA Region 8
When EPA Region 8 held an electronics collection event, coordinators promoted the event with a cardboard cut-out of the Regional Administrator. The office also held a contest among programs to see which program could collect the most electronics for recycling, and the winning program received the trophy below, made from used electronics.
EPA Region 9
EPA Region 9 cleared out electronic equipment stored in a warehouse in July of 2007 and sent the equipment to a READ contractor for recycling.
Transportation Safety Administration
The Transportation Security Administration completed a technology refresh within headquarters, replacing their existing computers and monitors with EPEAT Silver-registered equipment.
Fermilab
For the 2007 Batavia EnvironExpo, Fermilab created a display to highlight its award-winning programs in electronics recycling and prairie restoration to the community. The display included the sculpture of used electronics parts pictured below.
